Intel's newest and fastest generation of processors are based on the Nehalem microarchitecture and are branded under the names - Core i7, Core i5 and Core i3.
They were first launched in late 2008 and are the successor to the Intel Core2 brand. They are available both for the desktop and laptop platforms.
