Intel has planned to cut the price of five of its CPUs on 19 July 2009. The five CPU's include a quad-core, a core2duo and three dual-core chips.

The price drops are in the range of 10 to 20 percent as follows:
Core2Quad Q8300 (2.5 GigaHertz) will drop by $20 from $183 to $163
Core2Duo E7500 (2.93 GigaHertz) will drop by $20 from $133 to $113
Pentium Dual-Core E5400 (2.7 GigaHertz) will drop by $10 from $84 to $74
Pentium Dual-Core E5300 (2.6 GigaHertz) will drop by $10 from $74 to $64
Celeron Dual-Core E1500 (2.2 GigaHertz) will drop by $10 from $53 to $43
