Intel has planned to soon release a new dual-core desktop processor which will be the fastest Core2Duo to date.

The dual-core E8700 codenamed Wolfdale is clocked at 3.5 GigaHertz and is made on the 45 nanometer fabrication process. It has a front-side bus frequency of 1333 MegaHertz and 6 MegaBytes of L2 Cache. It supports MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4.1, Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST), Intel 64 (Intel's x86-64 implementation), XD bit (an NX bit implementation) and iAMT2 (Intel Active Management), Virtualization Technology, Trusted Execution Technology.

The chip will cost around 330 US dollars and the exact date is yet to be confirmed, though sources indicate that it will launch by early this year.
