Dell launches Inspiron Mini 9 laptop

Dell has unveiled the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 which is super light weight ultra portable notebook. The new laptop could well be on its way to be the Asus eee pc killer.

The Inspiron Mini 9 is based on the Intel's new Atom platform and is powered by the 1.6 GHz Diamond Ville 45nm processor which consumes just 4 Watts of power. It offers a battery life of up to four hours and weighs just around 1 kilograms.

The laptop comes with a 8.9 inch LED display and includes everything from Wifi, bluetooth, webcam, 3 USB ports, a card reader, VGA out to Ethernet. It comes in two color choices - Obsidian Black or Alpine White.

It comes with the Windows XP Home Edition SP3 and some versions may also include the Ubuntu 8.04 Linux Operating System with custom Dell interface.
Dell has also teamed up with Box.net to offer web-based file storage, access and sharing to users of the Dell Inspiron Mini 9, including a free Basic plan with 2GB of remote storage space, expandable to 25GB.
