Intel's Mobile processors will get faster in terms of speed after Intel will change their steppings. These new steppings will be available for consumers around March of next year.

The following Core 2 Duo chips will be moved from C-0 stepping to E-0:

Dell launches Inspiron Mini 12 netbook



Dell has unveiled a super-slim netbook but with a display size of 12 inches, which is the biggest netbook in terms of screen size seen so far.

The Inspiron Mini 12 is based on the Intel's new Atom platform and is powered by the 2 Watts Z520 or Z530 processor depending on the model. It offers a battery life of up to three hours for its 3-cell battery and weighs just around 1.24 kilograms.

The laptop comes with a 12.1 inch display and includes everything from Wifi, bluetooth, webcam, 3 USB ports, a card reader, VGA and Ethernet.

The netbook is right now available only in Japan and will be seen in other countries next month. More detailed specs are listed below.

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 netbook

Lenovo has recently launched their S series netbooks. According to Lenovo, "the IdeaPad S series is Slim, light, easy to use and very budget friendly. Perfect for first time netbook shoppers, families needing an additional PC and anyone looking for a great value".

The S10 netbook currently comes in three flavors Black (42312BU), White (42312CU), Red (42312DU) and with more colors available later. It is based on the Intel's new Atom platform and is powered by the 1.6 GigaHertz processor. Packs a memory size of 512 MegaBytes and a hard-disk drive capacity of 80 GigaBytes.

The laptop comes with a 10.2 inch WSVGA AntiGlare TFT, Broadcom 11 b/g Wireless adapter, a 3-cell Lithium-ion battery and includes Windows XP Home Edition.

NEC comes out with LaVie Light Netbook

NEC has joined the netbook bandwagon with the announcement of LaVie Light, a netbook which will be launched in Japan on November 6, 2008.

The LaVie Light is powered by Intel's Atom processor and includes a memory of 1 GigaByte. Comes with a hard-disk drive space of 160 GB which is the standard for netbooks now, and it weights in at just under 1.2 Kilograms.

The official release date and the exact price is still not known but it will cost similar to other netbooks.

Toshiba has recently announced a new ultralight and ultraportable laptop called the Portege R600.

The Portege R600 is powered by a Core 2 Duo processor running at 1.4 GigaHertz. There are two versions of the laptop available with the main difference between them is the storage type. One comes with a solid-state drive or SSD and the other comes with a standard HDD. Both have a memory of 3 GigaBytes.
The R600's display screen size is 12.1 inches and has an excellent battery life. It also includes a 5-pocket ballistic nylon carrying case, battery charger with integrated AC adapter and slim port replicator II.

Aspire A110X Acer's first SSD netbook with XP

Acer has introduced a new netbook in its Aspire One series which is equipped with a Solid-state drive or SSD along with Windows XP.

The A110X comprises a SSD with a capacity of 16 GigaBytes. It is powered by Intel's Atom processor and includes a memory of 1 GigaByte. It comes with a 6-cell battery pack which boosts the battery life but adds an extra load to the netbook, weighing in at about 1.2 Kilograms.

Acer Aspire one is a huge competitor to Asus eee pc and Dell Inspiron mini in the netbook segment. But at a US price of around $540 the A110X seems to be priced on the heavier side.

Intel Core i7 expected to launch on November 17

Intel is expected to launch is new series Core i7 processors on November 17, 2008. The Nehalem micro-architecture processor were set to launch earlier than this. With different sources stating different dates, the date of launch is still uncertain.

Asus sells 1.7 million eee pcs in the 3rd quarter of 2008

Asustek Computer shipped around 700,000 Eee PCs in September this year, a new monthly high for the company. Total shipments for the third quarter reached around 1.7 million units, and since October and November are traditionally peak months, the company expects fourth-quarter shipments will maintain at a similar level.

Currently, Asustek's Eee PC gross margins are between 15-20%. But since Acer has started to increase its netbook shipments, market watchers expect Asustek to adjust margins down to around 15% in oder to counter. However, the company denied the speculation saying margins will remain steady and that shipments of 10-inch Eee PC models will start to pick up in the fourth quarter, added the paper.

Creative recently came up with their new Inspire speakers, the T3200 and T6200. Creative also recently launched their Gigaworks T3 speakers.


The Inspire T6200 is a 5.1 channel speaker system which includes five speakers and one sub-woofer. Made for explosive gaming experience, it has a output of 18 Watts for the center speaker and 22 Watts for the sub-woofer. Intel's cheap Quad-core Q8300 launching soon

Intel has planned to launch a new cheap Quad core processor called the Q8300.

The Core 2 Quad Q8300 is based on the Yorkfield 45 nm platform. It is clocked at 2.5 GigaHertz, runs at Front Side Bus frequency of 1333 MegaHertz and comes with 4 MegaBytes of cache.

The Q8300 will cost $224 and is expected to be launched after the launch of Core i7 series on November 30, 2008.

Western Digial's new external drive called ShareSpace is a Network Storage System or Network Attached Storage (NAS).

The drive comes in 2 TeraBytes and 4 TeraBytes versions and can be configured in a RAID 0, 1 or 5 setup. The hard drives in the ShareSpace uses GreenPower technology which allows them to spin down during less intensive tasks and thus results in power saving.

It features Gigabit networking and transfer rates are five to six times faster than other network storage systems.
